We all know Taobao is a shopper’s paradise where people can buy anything. Anything. Virtual girlfriends? Check. Space trips? Check. Professional mourners? Morbid, and yeah, check. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that it’s not just the clothes and shoes and handbags that are being advertised—the models themselves have a price. Enter: Taobao’s model store.
Their webpage is divided into categories—you can search the women by size, type of work experience, or by their “look” (like cute, sexy, schoolgirl, or ethnic, for example.) The women provide their measurements, work specifications, and a copious amount of photographs, many composed at that signature selfie angle. In addition, the women have a comments section, where the model can interact with potential clients and “fans” (AKA creepers).
And the pouting. Oh the pouting…
Thankfully, this Taobao model store is all about equal-opportunity ickiness: male models are for sale too.
