A 12 year old boy from Chongqing municipality has been diagnosed with diabetes after eating Western fast food every single day for three months, Sina News reported.
The overweight boy, whose nickname is Linlin, is a big fan of fast food but was kept on a strict diet by his mother. However, Linlin ate fast food and carbonated drinks every single day from August onwards as his mother was away on a business trip.
After three months, Linlin had piled on more than 5kg, felt constantly thirsty and had to visit the toilet several times a night. He was diagnosed with diabetes due to his over-consumption of fast food.
In May, it was reported that China had the second-largest obese population in the world. According to China National Radio, China had as many as 114 million diabetes patients in 2013, accounting for about one third of the patients in the world.
