Photos showing a number of tourists in Sanya, Hainan province who removed their shoes and stretched their feet into a fountain to have a foot bath have been circulating online, drawing the ire of netizens, Tencent reported.
Some of these tourists even washed their shoes after cleaning their feet.
Many people gathered around to gawk at the tourists who had used the water from the fountain to wash their feet.
However, it was reported that no one tried to stop the tourists from washing their feet using the fountain water.
Naturally, web users had a few things to say .
A user named Abandon wrote, “One bottle of spa water and a pack of tissue paper can clean the feet very well. We should behave well ourselves.”
“I’ve been there this past September. There are alternative places for you to wash your feet” said another user named 寶唄
Another user named 太阳流泪了 commented, “Some of our countrymen are just unaware of their public image. If that happened in any foreign country, you can ruin the reputation of China.”
Well, at least these tourists didn’t bathe in the fountain like these genius residents who took public baths in a famous spring in Jinan city.
