In order to prevent cheating, teachers at a college in Shaanxi Province have developed the somewhat extreme method of moving all the tables and chairs outside on to the sports field and having the examination under the sun and under the vigilant watch of the proctors, according to NetEase.
The wide-open outdoor setting enables the teachers at Shaanxi Sanhe College in Baoji city to get a more comprehensive view of the test takers, using HD cameras as well as proctors perched on ladders with binoculars to pinpoint the cheaters.
All 3,800 students sat for the exam last week in groups of more than 1,200 that were each watched attentively by 80 teachers. The school has been doing it this way for 10 years. The great outdoor test is administered twice a year and helps determine the order in which students will be recommended to their prospective employers.
The prison-style examination method is necessary because Chinese students are such excellent and ingenious cheaters. They are even known to use spy-level type gadgets, like bras.
The best thing about this exam is that somehow everyone at the school has avoided the temptation of submitting it to Guinness.
