A three-year-old panda was found severely injured at the Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve in Sichuan province after it had been attacked by martens.
The panda was found lying on the ground at a moor stone cave near a conservation station with its stomach badly wounded and its intestines exposed, Sina reports. Workers at the conservation station believe the assailants responsible were martens—small, weasel-like creatures that we would normally find really cute if they weren’t such little bastards.
The panda was rushed to veterinarians to receive treatment. It’s now recovering after getting more than 100 stitches.
