An elderly doorman in Hefei, Anhui province dropped dead after he got into a heated argument with an alleged female official on November 16, and Chinese media is spinning the case as death by verbal abuse.
Sina News elaborates:
The 63-yr-old doorman named Zhao Zongwei was called a “watchdog”(a disparaging term in China) by the woman surnamed Zheng, after having refused her request to drive in reverse direction into the neighborhood. CCTV showed that Zhao fell to the ground three minutes after the quarrel, upon returning to his seat.
Zhao was immediately rushed to a hospital but was later pronounced dead.
“It’s hard to believe that a healthy man died all of a sudden” said Zhao’s family, ”The woman barely has any humanity”.
The woman is said to work in the Provincial Department of Education and it’s speculated that she may lose her job as a result of her lost temper. In the mean time, she’s been suspended from her job.
Although it goes against everything we’ve ever been told in preparation for the hellish coming-of-age that was the first day of kindergarten, this isn’t the first time we’ve reported about a person being blamed for taking someone down with their verbal lashing. A similar case occurred in June, when a driver went unconscious out after being cursed out by an elderly woman on his bus.
