A passenger onboard the K530 train from Chengdu to Hangzhou was very shocked to find a baby wrapped up in a woven bag beneath his seat yesterday afternoon.
The baby was tucked under the No. 65 seat, according to Sina News. She was warmly dressed and looked healthy, but, unsurprisingly, was left with no type of identification. Passengers told reporters that she appeared around three to five months old.
Police discovered that the bag had been brought on the train by two middle-aged women and that they “looked no different from other people” who don’t go around stashing small babies on modes of public transportation. But who can tell, really? The women reportedly placed the bag under the seat as they would with any old piece of luggage and departed early in the morning at Yingtan station in Jiangxi without it.
Passengers who were seated around the baby said they didn’t hear her crying until the train had nearly reached its final destination.
The infant is now being cared for at a Children’s Home as police investigate the case.
