Kuzya, the first of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Siberian tigers to cross over to China, has been spotted in various footage roaming around the national reserve in Luobei county of Heilongjiang province, according to local media, which also happily noted the feline’s apparent weight gain since its entrance.
Kuzya is one of three Siberian tigers that Putin helped release into the wild last May, and the second to trek across the China border. The other tiger, Ustin, was detected roaming along the Heilongjiang River earlier this month.
A local environment bureau is now taking special measures to ensure the tiger’s safety, as workers spend over 10 hours in the forest checking surveillance footage from the day before, according to Sina.
A video taken around midnight on November 9 night shows Putin’s kitty chewing on what appears to be a roe deer then leaving some leftovers on the ground, as is proper etiquette in its new host country.
