Nine people were injured when a man pulled out a knife and began stabbing at them indiscriminately after getting into an argument with employees at a supermarket in Guangxi yesterday.
The man, surnamed Zhou, attacked staff and customers at the Hualian supermarket in Nanning’s Jiangnan district around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. Six employees were injured as well as two customers and one salesman from a manufacturer, Xinhua News reports.
According to witnesses, the man had been shopping there around noon and returned later, claiming that the cashier had forgotten to give him some noodles he bought. After getting into an argument, he pulled out a dagger and stabbed the cashier before attacking random people nearby.
Most of the victims sustained knife wounds to the back, waist and stomach, police said. The knifeman was apprehended at the scene.
Parts of the attack were caught on film [viewer discretion advised].
