A 19 year old girl and her 16 year old sister have recently sold walnuts on a Taiyuan street in Shanxi province in the hopes of raising money for their father’s medical fees, who had been suffering from leukemia.
This family’s oldest child, Wei Wenxia, is a sophomore year student in Shanxi Normal University. Her sister and 17 year old brother are both senior high school students in their hometown, Xiaoyi City.
The family has been exhausted all of the savings for their father’s treatment after he was diagnosed with leukemia in October,
Suspended from school, Wei Wenxia took her sister on street to sell walnuts that were grown by their family; their brother also returned to their hometown to raise money.
According to Wei Wenxia, her father had received treatment in the hospital for a month, which had cost them 70,000RMB. They can barely afford the following three periods of treatment.
“Although selling walnuts to raise money for our father is just like adding water droplets to a bucket, we won’t give up trying.” Wei Wenxia told reporters.
Fortunately, many kindhearted people have reportedly given the poor family some help.
