A man’s custom-made, 680,000-yuan cellphone decorated with a gold shell and over 800 diamonds was returned to him after he lost at an airport in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province on Saturday.
The owner, a businessman surnamed Lin, said he lost the luxury Vertu phone while rescheduling a ticket on another phone.
After calling police, officers looked through surveillance footage and noticed that the phone had been picked up by a woman at the airport. They eventually tracked her down in a nearby village, where they found the phone and returned it to Lin, the luckiest SOB in all the land.
He offered to pay the police 10,000 yuan but the money was declined (as it should have been, because they’re police).
Anyone who purchases a 680k-yuan diamond-encrusted cellphone and loses it deserves for said phone to remain lost. There is truly nothing satisfying about this story.
