Shanghai Metro police spoke with the man who posted images of himself standing next to a subway security guard at Line 7’s Shanghai University station with a backpack full of weapons.
The man posted the images to his Weibo account under the user name “Cheka-jiqiangtianshi” on Monday in an attempt to ‘taunt officials about lax security,’ according to Shanghai Daily.
The post showed images of the man in a backpack loaded with two knives and a baton. Next to the image he wrote: “Im going in. I wonder who dares to inspect me.”
Apparently, security guards dared. Police said the man never made it past the security check and his weapons were immediately confiscated. It’s unclear how the man was penalized.
Weapons, explosives and fake guns are all banned on public transportation. Last year ahead of the Spring Festival, Shanghai railway police had managed to seize over 5,000 knives, several replica guns and over 13,000 inflammables and explosives.
