Chinese models He Sui and Xi Mengyao walked down the sparkling runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in London on Tuesday.
This is the first time US-based retailer Victoria’s Secret has held its famously skin-bearing fashion show in London. More than 40 models strutted down the catwalk showing some of the brand’s latest in unwearable underwear, according to the Telegraph.
Liu Wen, the fifth highest-paid model in the world, was the first Chinese as well as Asian model to walk the catwalk for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2009. He Sui followed her footsteps to become the second Chinese model to do so.
Xi Mengyao (or Ming Xi) has been featured in number of ads for prominent luxury brands including Givenchy, Diane Von Furstenberg, Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander Wang. Chinese netizens, however, have taken to fashion forums to trash the model for her quirky look.
China’s models have become more and more prevalent in the international scene since Du Juan from Shanghai gained international recognition for her appearance on the cover of Vogue China’s first issue.
