Air Asia flight FD 9101 from Bangkok to Nanjing was forced to turn around about 90 minutes after it took off this morning due to two Chinese passengers who’d created a disturbance on the plane.
Social media posts from witnesses onboard said that the two passengers in question, a male and a female, were in their 20s and seemingly in a relationship. The two were seated separately and, while trying to switch seats with other passengers, started yelling at the flight attendants.
When the stewardesses began offering dinner, the female passenger asked one of them to get her some boiling water for her instant noodles. It’s not entirely clear what happened to prompt it, but the female passenger then poured the steaming hot noodles all over the flight attendant.
From there things escalated, and, as you can expect, the man threatened to blow up the plane and the woman started yelling about jumping off of it. The flight was forced to return to Thailand’s capital, where passengers onboard had to disembark and the two troublemakers were taken away by police.
While the witness reports have not been verified, images of the noodle-y mess and a passport purportedly belonging to the man were posted online.
