Police in Guangxi Province last week uncovered further evidence demonstrating just how evolved we humans are, by busting a large smuggling ring dealing in endangered wild animals. On the scene, police discovered 46 live monkeys tied up inside the trunk of a car.
Among the monkeys, 28 were lorises, which are under first class state protection in China, and 19 were macaques, which are under second class state protection, according to Xinhua News.
Monkeys take on a variety of roles in China apart from being depressingly trafficked, chopped up, and eaten. Such as: secret weapon, lifelong companion, lab rat, and king.
