A man went on a smashing spree after being denied a credit card at a bank in Shanghai’s Xuhui district yesterday afternoon, causing over 30,000 yuan worth of damage to the place.
The man went into a branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China on Zhaojiabang Road around noon yesterday and had his credit card application rejected because he wasn’t able to provide proper documents, a bank clerk told Shanghai Daily.
So, to “let off some steam,” as the bank clerk gently worded it, he smashed a plant pot then picked up a garbage can and began hitting more things. Customers were evacuated from the bank and police officers arrived soon after to detain the man. Despite the extensive damage, however, the bank was back in business just 10 minutes after the incident.
