A list disclosing how much moolah Chinese starlets cash in for their appearances in films and TV series has been published online.
Hong Kong-based actress Maggie Cheung, 50, pulls in around 20 million yuan per film, topping all female entertainers in the movie sector, iFeng.com reports. While she hasn’t starred in a film since 2010, she seems to be sitting on a big enough fortune to comfortably support her doomed transition to rock star. Zhang Ziyi ranks second among Chinese movie actresses, with a paycheck of 12 to 15 million yuan, and third place is a tie between Zhao Wei and Zhou Xun, each of whom charge 11 to 15 million yuan per film.
Sun Li is the highest paid TV actress, bringing in around 870,000 yuan per episode. Yao Di ranks second at 840,000 yuan per episode while Cecilia Cheung comes in third with a 800,000 yuan pay check, according to the list.
Fan Bingbing, who topped the Forbes China Celebrity 100 List last year, charges 30 million yuan in total for her appearances in TV series, the latest being the high-budget historical drama The Empress of China. Unfortunately for viewers, two of the show’s other leading stars, ahem, were recently edited out.
