One person was killed and two others left wounded during a shootout at an airport in Taiwan yesterday.
AFP reports that a 45-year-old man, identified as Chang, was taking his 10-year-old daughter to the Chinchuankang airport when he confronted a policeman about not wearing a helmet. Chang then punched the policeman in the nose, prompting the officer to pull out his handgun.
During the struggle, the gun fell to the ground. Chang snatched it and fired several shots at two other policemen who were coming to help their colleague, the report said.
Chang was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the first police officer and a female passerby were injured. Chang’s daughter was unharmed.
The shootout was captured by an onlooker in the terminal and later broadcast on a local TV station [Warning: video contains content which some viewers may find disturbing].
