The success story of the Ballet Rafael Aguilar begins in 1960 in Pans. It was here that Rafael and Manuela Aguilar founded their company of seven artists. Directed by Carmen Salinas the company has scored overwhelming success with the choreographies Carmen Flamenco and Bolero especially at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Hamburg’s Staatsoper, the Teatro Olimpico in Rome and The Ronacher Theatre in Vienna, only to name a few. Ballet of the State Theatre on Gärtnerplatz: Sleeping Beauty @ Shanghai Oriental Art Center
The foundation stone for the Gärtnerplatz Theatre was laid in the Isarvorstadt district of Munich in 1864. Since 1955, it has borne the name “Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz”. The ballet stands for contemporary dance in Munich: the research and the perfection of a dynamic and powerful dance language is the center of the artistic work of the company and its director Karl Alfred Schreiner who looks for new forms of expression, on the basis of the classical repertoire. Exhibition: Robotic Future @ Minsheng Art Museum
Minsheng Art Museum is going to hold a new exhibition “Robotic Future”, as part of 10th Shanghai Biennale’s City Pavilions program, in which 18 pieces of installation and video arts by artists from both home and abroad will be displayed. Play: Guns, Lies and Roses (in Chinese) @ Shanghai Art Theatre
Guns, Lies and Roses is adapted from the drama The Suicide, written by Russian playwright Nikolay Robertovich Erdman in 1928 as a biting piece of satire aimed at the former Soviet Union. The play was banned within the Soviet Union at first and come out until 1987. Meng Jinghui’s adaption is the first version to be portrayed in Chinese. Read more here.
