A Shenzhen boss gathered 10 employees to burn several tons of hell money in a ceremony to offer thanks to the gods this past Wednesday at an industrial area of Longhua New District.
As the tons of hell money and other items of worship were being lit, plumes of dark smoke curled into the air, reported NetEase
Throughout the two-hour burning process, another worker stood still with a water pipe in his hand so that he could stop the fire from spreading if things got out of hand.
According to the workers, burning hell money has become a routine practice for them.
Hell money is a kind of joss paper meant to look like bank notes, and is offered as burnt-offerings to the deceased.
