A man in Hubei who’d been pronounced dead by doctors after falling into a deep coma recently “woke up” as his family was preparing to bury him.
The man’s family rushed him to the hospital when they noticed that he was breathing and weeping before they were about to lay him to rest, according to Tomo News.
The 45-year-old man, a heavy smoker surnamed Guo, suddenly collapsed three months ago and suffered from severe cerebral hemorrhaging. Doctors said his chances of surviving were less than five percent.
He remained in a coma for three months, until doctors one morning pronounced him dead. Fortunately for Guo, the family took him home and discovered that the doctors were very, very wrong.
Doctors now say they’ll have to wait for him to wake up—really wake up—to assess how extensive the brain damage really is, although it’s likely that his speech, memories and physical mobility will all have been severely affected.
