Police are searching for the driver of an orange Lamborghini estimated to cost around two million RMB after it was found totaled on the side of a Hangzhou road.
The luxury car was spotted around 4:00 a.m. in the middle of an elevated road with its hood entirely crushed in, NetEase reported on January 27. Road workers arrived later in the morning to tow the vehicle, although there was no sign of the driver.
Police were able to conclude that the orange Lamborghini belonged to a Wenzhou resident based on its license plate, but that’s about it. The car’s damage was extensive, but according to reporters at the scene, the air bag system hadn’t been activated and there was no sign of blood in the car or on the windshield.
“We are still looking for the driver of the Lamborghini,” one Hangzhou traffic cop said. “The reason as to why he/she abandoned the car still remains unknown.”
A witness and car aficionado at the scene surnamed Chen identified it as a Lamborghini Gallardo. “We usually call it a ‘Little Ox’, and it’s an absolute luxury sports car”.
The Gallardo, which Lamborghini has stopped manufacturing, can be purchased used for up to two million RMB.
