A soldier and his wife shared a brief but sweet encounter on January 24 as his troop passed through her county, marking the first time they’ve seen each other since their wedding in October. The romantic meeting has won over web users as it’s made the rounds on Chinese social media.
In the morning of January 24, Huang Wei showed up at the entry of Huaning High School in Yunnan province with some Chinese medicine, three boxes of oranges and a dozens of water bottles and waited to catch a glimpse of her husband Ren Zhigang, a captain serving at an artillery brigade stationed in Yunnan.
A day earlier, she heard from her work, Huaning Country Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, that her husband’s unit would pass their county during military exercise. Huang left her home at 6:00 a.m. and waited.
Two hours later, she finally found her husband. They chatted while handing out some of the water and oranges she brought for the soldiers of her husband’s unit.
After two minutes of talking, the two hugged one another and parted ways. Ren gave her a military salute before he left.
This was the husband and wife’s first time seeing each other since their wedding in October.
