Yesterday, over five thousand residents in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province lined up at a temporary supply station to purchase soy sauce as part of a years-long tradition ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
For the past two decades, people in Zhenjiang have considered this particular sauce, created by a time-honored condiment company, to be a staple item for the Spring Festival holiday, iFeng News reports.
The soy sauce will be continually supplied until February 16. This year, more than 10 thousand people are expected to join the da jiang you queue to, as the Chinese name says, get soy sauce.
The producers sold out their first day’s supply after more than five thousand people showed up to buy soy sauce yesterday.
