A man in the suburbs of Chengde city, Hebei province went on a rampage and murdered all seven of his family members before killing himself days ahead of the Chinese New Year.
The suspect, 38-year-old Wu Shouguo, was believed to have battered his wife, two children and four other relatives from his wife’s family on Saturday night, the public bureau of Chengde city said in a press release yesterday. He then ended his own life by drinking pesticide that same night.
Police found seven bodies, including Wu’s, at his home in the Xiaonangou village of Sangou township. They also found the body of his wife’s sister in a factory about 100 meters away.
Investigators said Wu had been living with his wife’s parents and sister since they got married back in 2000, but that he constantly got into fights with his in-laws.
It’s believed that in a fit of rage, he killed his wife, his son and daughter, aged seven and 14 respectively, his wife’s parents and his 10-year-old nephew. Police said Wu then traveled to the factory dorm where his sister-in-law had been staying that night and beat her to death before going home to kill himself.
