This is a black day for Shanghai showrooms. The Organizing Committee of Auto Shanghai 2015 announced yesterday that it was canceling the appearance of car models at this year’s upcoming event on April 22 because organizers want take the focus off of the models’ grab bags and redirect people’s attention to the real stars of the show…the cars.
Reports about the auto show model ban began surfacing in January but the organizing committee said it was still “soliciting public opinion” over the matter. While we’re pretty sure the response was a resounding “hell no” from at least half of the public, the committee has gone ahead and given the models the ol’ heave-ho. The decision aims to “restore the essence of the exhibition and re-focus on the technology and innovation in the automobile industry”, which apparently has nothing to do with watercolor paintings of posies on women’s breasts.
Shanghai may set an example for all future car shows and upcoming trade shows across China, CRI said, citing market industry sources, meaning that this could very well be the end of Gan Lulu’s illustrious career.
