UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon yesterday extended a greeting to Chinese people celebrating the New Year holiday in a combination of Mandarin and English before showing off his impressive calligraphy skills (again).
“I especially thank the many supporters of the United Nations in China. You’re vital to the success of our efforts to advance peace, development and human rights,” he said.
“Traditionally, the sheep signifies a gentle and compassionate spirit. This year, let us be inspired to show great kindness and caring in striving to reach our ambitious goals.
“Please accept my best wishes for your continued good health, happiness and success in this Year of the Sheep.”
