A tourist from Harbin said that organizers of a tour group in Hong Kong yesterday refused to take them to Disneyland unless they each spent at least 5,000 HKD (4,000 RMB) at a jewelry store.
The woman, surnamed Pan, said that everyone in the group had already paid 750 HKD for the tour, which took them to popular spots including Ocean Park and Avenue of the Stars.
They arrived at a Cheung Sha Wan jewelry store, where the guide told them they must spend a minimum of 5,000 HKD or their luggage would be thrown off the bus, according to Coconuts Hong Kong, citing an Apple Daily report.
Reluctantly, Pan forked out 2,680 HKD on a piece of jewelry but was told that it wasn’t enough. That’s when she decided it was time to get the police involved.
After a couple hours of negotiation, employees at the jewelry company agreed to refund Pan and eight other tourists who’d gotten caught in their web of manipulation.
Unwilling to let the tour group rob Pan of any more of her precious time or money, she boarded the bus to continue her travels towards the Happiest Place on Earth.
