A nine-car pileup on the Xiamen-Chengdu Expressway yesterday resulted in two deaths and two injuries. The road was blocked off for several hours, NetEase News reports, leading to a 10-kilometer-long traffic jam.
Reports say a tank truck rammed into a black Toyota on the expressway after it failed to slow down in time and attempted to veer to the median. About 10 meters behind it, more cars collided, including another vehicle that toppled over.
The man and woman sitting in the front seats of the most seriously damaged car died on the spot. A young girl was safely rescued from the back seat of the black Toyota.
