A man was photographed at the Mount Xiqiao Temple in Foshan, Guangdong province on Sunday casually slipping his new iPhone 6 into a donation box.
The temple welcomed thousands of visitors over the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday who came to light incense, pray and offer cash donations, or in this case, smartphone donations.
According to the person who photographed the scene, staff at the temple later retrieved the man’s phone and gave it back to him, explaining that charities would only accept cash and that monks had no use for Apple iPhones.
The man took the phone back, smiled, and slipped some 100-yuan bills into the donation box instead (but we’re assuming not 5,300 RMB worth).
It must be nice being rich.
