A 67-year-old man in Luoyang city, Henan province has won plenty of applause among local residents for his ability to play nine musical instruments simultaneously, using his hands, feet, and voice to effectively create a one-man band.
Lu Feixing, a former Chinese teacher at a Luoyang middle school, has been fond of music and has picked up various instruments since his youth, Tencent reports.
“I can play flute, banhu, erhu and electronic keyboard,” said Lu.
After retiring, he began taking his banhu to play with other musicians in a town square. When some of his band members failed to show up, he started playing their instruments for them at the same time as his own. It took off from there.
He uses a violin, banhu and erhu fixed in a row, producing a nice blend of Chinese and Western instruments. With no hands left to play the electronic keyboard, he learned how to play it with his feet.
After observing pop singers who wear a microphone headset to sing and dance, he made his own. “Wearing the microphone, I feel that’s very special,” Lu told reporters. So modest.
He gathers all of the instruments he needs and stabilizes them on his old-style bicycle when he goes out to perform.
“Elderly people are fond of traditional operas and young people are keen on pop music. I love both and I can play both,” said Lu proudly.
Lu said it is his dream to perform on CCTV.
