A man began coughing blood and died at an internet cafe in Shanghai’s Songjiang district on Friday morning after he’d been surfing the web for 19 consecutive hours.
According to CCTV footage and witness accounts, the 24-year-old was using the computer when he suddenly started spitting up blood at around 4:00 a.m. on February 27. People nearby helped him to recline in a chair, and within minutes, he fell into a coma, according to People’s Daily.
The Songjiang police station posted a statement to its official account reading: “A man started spitting blood while surfing the Internet in a cybercafé in Xiaokunshan town, then fell into coma. He died on spot early in the morning on Feb 27.”
Doctors said the man was suffering from tuberculosis and police ruled out homicide as a cause.
