This video features some of the most gorgeous shots of Hong Kong we’ve ever seen. Combined with an eerie electronic soundtrack, this masterpiece beautifully showcases life in one of the world’s most densely packed cities.
The photographer behind the video, Dmitry Vazhnik, visited the city in February and November of 2014. Vazhnik writes that when first visiting he was impressed with the city because of the “density of life”. He adds that “the best view on HK is from the rooftops, thats why most of the shots are from there.”
During his second visit to the city, Dmitry inadvertently became a witness to the Umbrella Revolution, spending a lot of time at the various protest camps in central Hong Kong. He said that he was “impressed by the courage and perseverance” of Hong Kong citizens.
Tensions are still running high in Hong Kong despite the pro-democracy protests running out of steam towards the end of 2014. Recently several demonstrations have taken place targeting mainland Chinese shoppers who the locals complain are driving up the prices of daily necessities and clogging up public transport.
