Around 2,000 students in Guangdong province gathered to protest against a military school based in Guangzhou this past Friday evening due to its poor accommodations.
According to the students, the school had asked each of them to pay 700 yuan for military training at a place called Huangpu MIlitary Academy.
Students demand a refund from the school.
Upon arriving in Guangzhou on March 13, they realized the school wasn’t even called Huangpu Military Academy. Worse still, the school cafeteria provided them inadequate food and only a few bathrooms were available for the 3,000 students.
It’s reported that the students started violently smashing school equipment in the cafeteria and office buildings after an instructor beat up a student during an assembly at about 7:30 p.m.
Shortly afterwards, dozens of cops were dispatched to resolve the incident.
The next day, the students continued a silent protest on campus, demanding that the school to return their training fees. The school officials haven’t responded yet.
Three hundred students reportedly dropped out of the school and returned home.
