A Fujian man made a down payment on his new Xi’an apartment with 100,000 one-yuan coins, according to posts on Weibo.
The coins, which weighed 600kg, were shipped to the land sales office via mini-van and required over 10 security guards to help unload. The man told reporters he acquired the extraordinary sum of coins from doing business with a bus company, where he moved them from directly.
While the man made a formal guarantee as to the legitimacy and correct amount of the coins,
the bank will still have its hands full counting the epic shipment. It took 18 bank workers in Kunming over eight hours to process 50,000 RMB one-jiao coins delivered by a man paying his fine for an assault charge.
Fortunately the coined-up man at the centre of this story had something worthwhile to spend his fortune of silver on and was not tempted to coat his car in thousands of coins.
