Beijing police detained a Malaysian national who used a toy gun to stick up a Cartier store and make off with over 3 million yuan in goods on Monday evening.
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Moi Kit Leng, was charged with robbery after he managed to grab around 11 watches from the store, located at a shopping center in the capital’s Wangfujing district.
The Cartier store manager said that the mask-clad, plastic gun-wielding robber snatched watches worth more than 3 million yuan all together, according to the Beijing News.
He didn’t make it far. Police received a call at around 7:00 p.m. and caught the suspect just two kilometers from the scene less than half an hour later. We assume it wasn’t too hard to spot the only grown man in the city running around the streets with a toy gun.
It’s reported that the suspect attempted to make a getaway by hijacking a taxi.
