A 38-year-old staff member at a mall in Luoyang, Henan province was rewarded 10,000 yuan in cash after he found a three-carat diamond ring in a toilet.
A local woman surnamed Zhang had apparently noticed it was missing after a trip to the mall, and released a lost-and-found poster online offering 10,000 yuan to anyone who came across it.
Mao Chunji explained that the rumor of the missing diamond ring had spread among staff at the mall. Workers searched high and low for the ring, hoping to get their hands on the 10 grand reward, but to no success.
One day, Mao was cleaning the toilets when he spotted something shining and sparkling. There before him was a three-carat diamond ring worth over 30,000 yuan.
Mao, who’s salary ranged around 3,000 yuan per month, said he was hesitant to return the ring to its rightful owner, but in the end, decided to hand it over.
The mall manager contacted Zhang, who carried through with her promise of a cash reward, according to Sina.
