Li Liao: Xia Jiaying @ Goethe Open Space
This is the last weekend you can check out Li Liao’s exhibition at the Goethe Open Space. The German Consulate in Shanghai is hosting the 9m² multi-purpose platform for mixed media and performance works, which are being curated by up-and-coming talent, Zoe Zhang Bing. Li Liao’s current exhibition Xia Jiaying comprises of two short videos and a live performance. The exhibition was co-created by the artist and his mother and shines a light on their conflicting habits and views – despite their close blood ties. Get more information here.

The Wizard of Oz @ Malanhua Kids Theatre
Theatre Anon presents The Wizard Of Oz, an adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s modern classic fairy tale. Two years ago, Theatre Anon was launched with a production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal. In association with Earlybirds and the creative team behind The Snow Queen, familiar faces of the Shanghai stage (Natasha Portwood, JP Lopez, director Arran Hawkins) take Oz to the stage. Follow Dorothy and Toto as they get whisked off to the Land of Oz, a land of Wicked Witches, Flying Monkeys, Talking Lions and of course, the Wonderful Wizard Oz himself. Get your tickets here.

SCS Original Musical Festival: Through the Clouds @ Shanghai Culture Square
This Friday and Saturday the Shanghai Culture Square will host what some people call the Chinese version of “War and Peace”. The Chinese classical musical Through the Clouds tells a lovestory set in the ancient city of Jiang Nan. The caretaker of the Jiang Nan Library’s treasured book collection and a fellow bibliophile find love as they unite to protect a classic from the war. Get tickets here.

Photo Collective Party: Anatomy @ Kulou
Studio 191’s monthly photo exhibit pops up at Kulou this Friday, showcasing some of Shanghai’s most talented photographers! Photographers send in their work and selected pictures get printed for a “photo party”. Kulou has drink promo’s all night and you get a free drink and shot upon entrance. More information here.

DJ Lam and Dave K @ UVRC
This Friday at uDance Vinyl Radio Club DJ Lam will spin a set full of Detroit house and New York house with a touch of French funky house and nu-disco. Dave-K will take over till the sun rises with his deep house sound that made him a favorite in Shanghai’s underground scene. For the early birds, there will be Happy Hour from 6 to 10 PM. Flower blossom festival @ Gucun Park
Gucun, Century and Gongqing Park are among eight green zones across the city that will host all sorts of activities to celebrate the cherry blossom season in Shanghai. The festivities go on untill April 8. Find out more here.

Opening exhibition LUDO @ Magda Gallery
LUDO’S exhibition Fly me to the moon is opening this Saturday at Magda Gallery. LUDO is French street art scene’s “rising star”, and realized the project after getting inspired during his first trip to Shanghai in November 2014. The exhibition groups a series of works on canvas around a specific pattern and also shows sculptures and a video about his adventure in Shanghai and his “work in progress”. Francis Inferno Orchestra @ Lola
Aussie Francis Inferno Orchestra, currently living in London, is coming to Lola this Saturday. Expect tunes from disco’s back catalogue and an array of drum machine rhythms. STILL @ Art Plus Shanghai
Art+ Shanghai Gallery brings together four young Chinese artists in a group exhibition that celebrates the richness and complexity of the “flittering moment”. The four artists, Huang Yulong, Wei Xiaoguang, Zhang Wei, and Zhou Jie, are all mainland Chinese and represent a new trend in Chinese art that combines the appreciation of stillness and reflection. The First Comic Con Shanghai @ Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing (CECIS)
Reed Pop, one of the largest Comic Con organizers in America, is bringing Comic Con (SHCC) to Shanghai for the first time ever this May. Expect comic book artists Adi Granov (Iron Man), David Finch (creator of Batman: The Dark Knight), Billy Tan (Green Lantern), and a few Chinese artists like Benjamin, J*RYU, Zhang Moyi, Wang Maomao (creator of Tuzki, that rabbit in your WeChat animated sticker collection) there for meet-and-greets.
