Ladies, have you noticed a healthy glow of late after purchasing sanitary products in China? Yesterday a half ton shipment of radioactive made-in-China maxi pads was seized after setting off alarms in Beirut, Lebanon.
The Lebanon Minister for Finance, the department responsible for customs, told Al-Joumhouriya newspaper: “As a result of the examination of a number of boxes that contained sanitary pads, it appeared that the rate of radioactivity inside them was 35 times more than is permitted.”
According to The Daily Mail, the products were manufactured by a Chinese company called Anion. Their company website claims that their pads and pantyliners contain an anion layer which “emits intensive anion stream beneficial to human health”
As of yet it is unknown how the products, guaranteed to redefine the concept of having a “hot girlfriend,” became radioactively contaminated. Some speculate that it could have been a side effect of the production process.
The discovery is the latest in a series of radioactive finds at Beirut’s airport and sea port. The Daily Star, a Lebanon-based paper, says that last month, a shipment of mobile phone covers that were found to be radioactive were returned to China.
