We’ve seen a lot of nail houses over the years. Ones that developers build around, ones that developers dig around, ones that developers dig moats around, but don’t think we’ve quite seen one that developers are literally trying to swallow up.
But, hey, see something new here every day. Check out this stubborn nail house in a high-tech development zone in Yichang City, Hubei Province (world capital of nail houses). The surrounding dirt has been piled so high that it even exceeds the height of the three-story house itself. The developers look to be trying for optimal conditions to attract a sarlacc that would take away the need for those pesky agreements with the homeowner.
As you can imagine living in the Pit isn’t great. But it’s actually worse in this one than you’d imagine, since for the last two years developers have cut off the home’s water and power supply.
NetEase reports that homeowner Yang has tried to petition the city council several times to get his water and electricity back, but to no avail. Apparently, he and the developers are still no closer to deal in their compensation negotiations. The developers might just be stalling until the rainy season hits.
