Over the weekend, one Beijing boyfriend showed that you needn’t go out and buy ludicrous amounts of iPhones in order to confess your love to your partner, all you need is some compassion, sincerity, and a meat-filled floral arrangement.
According to reports via Tencent, the proposal took place in a Beijing hot pot restaurant. The couple has been dating for five years since they met at university. Apparently, the girlfriend loves to eat meat, at hot pot joints especially, and so has been putting on a few pounds.
Being the tender romantic he is, the boyfriend declared that she should eat as much meat as her heart desires, get fatter and fatter, and he will still love her. He then got down on one knee to present her with his meat bouquet and make his proposal.
She said yes, of course, and the restaurant erupted in cheers. We can only assume that the couple then transferred the meat from bouquet to hot pot and will live happily ever after in meat-filled bliss.
While some netizens poked fun at the boyfriend’s peculiar proposal method, one netizen commented that the food-based proposals is the way to go. In 1999, he proposed to his girlfriend using 19 radishes carved into roses, and 16 years later the couple is still happily married.
