Shanghai foodie app IndulgeSmart has undergone a major rebranding and is now called Bon App. Since it was launched in August last year, the mobile application has grown into a community of several thousand users that are actively writing up reviews and adding listings.
60,000 downloads and 50 million searches later, a Chinese version of the app has also been launched, making Bon App what we’re told is the only bilingual user-generated restaurant review app in Shanghai.
The name change notwithstanding, the core purpose of the app remains to help users discover their next favourite restaurant based on an intelligent filtering engine and reviews left by other foodies in the community.
Bon App founder Stone Shi tells Shanghaiist that upcoming features for the app include a brand new algorithm that will be intelligent enough to tell you where Italians say the best pizza is or where Sichuanren say the best malatang is — which sounds fabulous to us if the can really pull it off.
Also upcoming is a group feature which will help you plan dinner with friends. With this, you’ll be able to send invitations, give your mates a choice of times, cuisines, and restaurants, and your decision will be made by the most popular selection.
Download BonApp on the App Store or GooglePlay.
