For those of us in need of a little socialism with Chinese characteristics-based wisdom when on the go, a “Learn from Xi” app finally launched yesterday to serve all of our ideological needs.
According to The Beijing News, the free app named Xuexi Zhongguo (学习中国) was developed by the Party School of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and includes all of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s classics, including the Zuckerberg favorite The Governance of China as well as Xi’s debut book (destined to be a Taylor Swift-collaborated hit) “Shake off Poverty“. It also features a vast collection of Xi’s essential quotations, theories, and speeches, and even has a map to pinpoint the exact location where each piece of wisdom was first bestowed upon the masses.
But, hey, that’s not all! The app also includes other people discussing Xi’s wise words. Numerous experts provide commentary on his words and actions, academic papers supply even deeper analysis, and editorials somehow manage to add on even more adulation. The app’s creators say that they hope their creation arouses enthusiasm for socialist ideologies.
So, if you are interested in learning about “morally inspiring art,” the intrusiveness of instant noodles, and the awesomeness of baozi from the world’s most popular and down-to-earth leader, this is the only resource you will ever need.
Scan the QR code below and download the Little Red Book of the digital age (It’s also available in the Apple Store. Leave a review).
So far, the app has opened to mixed reviews, but one Weibo user already recognizes the extraordinary educational benefits that it can offer. “Xuexi Zhongguo is an extremely useful app… for civil servants selection tests,” says user @afeixiaoxiaozhuai.
No matter what, the fangirls are going to love it.
If you do manage to go through the entire app and are still thirsting for more information about Xi Dada, check out Evan Osnos’ short profile of China’s leader for the New Yorker.
