A Chinese TV channel which broadcasts live panda mating were disappointed on Friday when the star of the show, a giant male panda, got stage fright and couldn’t rise to the occasion.
Aiming to demystify the whole process of panda breeding, a Chinese TV network called Ipanda has tried to become a matchmaker for lonely pandas, providing an intimate space for two lovebirds and then broadcasting the entire sordid encounter to the world.
However those who tuned in last Friday to watch some filthy panda sex were disappointed when the star of the show, a male named Wu Gang, couldn’t quite seem to get in the mood.
Global Broadcast: Giant Panda Mating
During the 50 minutes that Wu Gang and a female named Lin Bing spent together, Wu Gang was reportedly very hostile towards Lin Bing, despite her displaying signs of being in heat.
Speaking to Xinhua, Luo Bo, a keeper at the Bifengxia Panda Centre in Sichuan where filming took place said “Male pandas can be picky, and if they don’t like a partner, they show symptoms similar to sexual apathy.”
Wu Gang was probably just scared he’d never live up to the performance of Lulu from Sichuan who last week broke records for panda sexual stamina with a 7 minute 45 second tour de force.
Just in case you haven’t had enough of hearing about panda copulation over the past week, we’ve included a video below of two pandas struggling to get it on.
