Eight people died and 28 more were injured when a bus rolled over on the Chuxiong-Dali expressway in Yunnan province’s Nanhua county on Monday evening, Xinhua reported yesterday.
The bus was carrying a tour group and was headed towards Kunming when it veered into a barrier and turned over on the side of the expressway. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene and four died on the way to the hospital. The injured were sent to the Chuxiong Prefecture People’s Hospital.
Just days before the accident, 21 people were killed when a bus ran off a cliff and plunged 100 meters into a river in Guizhou province.
Road accidents have become the third largest cause of death in China, according to a study in the British medical journal The Lancent.
