A mainland artist was found guilty of common assault and was fined 6,000 HKD after throwing a plastic cup at Cathay Pacific stewardess during a flight from Singapore to Hong Kong.
The flight attendant, Lai Wing-man, said that Lee Yuet-fung hurled a plastic cup at her during the December 10 flight when she failed to fetch his water at a satisfactory speed.
Lee, who represented himself at the hearing on March 31, insisted that he merely “dropped” the cup because he hadn’t taken his diabetes meds and his hands were trembling.
Despite numerous attempts at declaring his own innocence (and pissing off the deputy magistrate while at it), Lee, 68, was found guilty at the Tsuen Wan Court in Hong Kong today and was ordered to pay 6,000 HKD (4,800 RMB) in compensation, a price which he later commented was too high because he “didn’t do it”.
Outside the courtroom, Lee also complained that Cathay Pacific “lacked virtuous morals” because it was not a mainland Chinese airliner, according to Coconuts Hong Kong.
He then proclaimed that he would ‘rather fly with Malaysian Airlines’, which is also not a Chinese carrier, but we’ll just let the man dwell in his defeat.
