Shanghai Grand Prix F1 @ Shanghai International Circuit
This weekend, the F1 Grand Prix returns to Shanghai with all your favorite teams and celebrity racers doing 56 laps on the 5.5 km long Shanghai International Circuit. Built at a cost of 240 million dollars, the circuit is dominated by a huge main grandstand and pit complex. The circuit layout, which roughly mirrors the Chinese character Shang, is fairly typical of modern venues. It features medium to slow speed corners and a straight where the drivers are flat out for almost 1.4 kilometers. Get tickets here.

Jason Robert Brown’s Off-Broadway production The Last Five Years is brought to Shanghai by Urban Aphrodite. Two New Yorkers in their twenties fall in and out of love over the course of five years. Kent Nagano and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra @ Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Halls
Cali-born conductor Kent Nagano is renowned for his elegant and intelligent interpretations. This Friday he and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra will play Anders Hillborg’s Beast Sampler, Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D minor, Op.47 and Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No.1 in C minor, Op.68. Violinist Ray Chen (pictured above) will join them. He is the winner of the Queen Elisabeth (2009) and Yehudi Menuhin Competitions (2008) and is among the most compelling young violinists out there. Steve Simeone @ The Camel
Known for his high-energy storytelling, Steve Simeone was most recently featured on Gabriel Iglesias’ Standup Revolution on Comedy Central. He’s also a regular performer at Hollywood’s most prestigious Comedy Clubs, The Comedy Store, The Improv, and The Laugh Factory. When he’s not headlining clubs on his own he can be seen on the road with The Playboy Comedy Tour, Pauly Shore, and Andrew Dice Clay. Opening exhibition: Despair of the Soul @ OFOTO Gallery
Joel-Peter Witkin is a master at showing our realities, our dreams or nightmares. He often uses references to the classics in his art, like Venus in Chains, The Raft of G. W.
