To prevent children from falling down the stairwells, a hospital in Chenzhou, Hunan province has gone as far as to install “safety nets” across the stair openings at its seven-story outpatient department building, NetEase reports.
Presumably, accidents had previously occurred in the hospital and staff had to take measures to prevent similar ones.
Internet users have expressed mixed opinions about the unsightly nets. While they would no doubt be helpful for kids who try to crawl over the stair railings, several netizens pointed out that the hospital will now have to make sure kids don’t try use the nets as a personal jungle-gym.
Beijing in 2013 installed trial safety nets across manhole covers in the city to prevent kids from falling down.
Yay or nay?
