A truck spun out of control around midnight on April 20 in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, causing hundreds of crates of eggs to spill out onto the highway, forming a massive road omelette.
Local authorities said that the truck loaded with eggs flipped near the Yangli Highway toll gate, resulting in a meters-long traffic jam and, presumably, the still-lingering stench of sulphur.
The spilled eggs spreading down the highway created the effect of a hundred-meter-long “yellow river”.
The truck was delivering hundreds crates of eggs from Funing county, Yancheng to Zhenjiang, when the breaks failed on the driver as he was passing the Yangli Highway toll gate. While he managed to avoid crashing through the gate ceiling, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Fortunately, no one was injured at the scene.
It took hours for the driver to pick up remaining eggs and clean up the road.
