A three-year-old child who was believed to have been left home alone remarkably survived after falling from a fifth-floor window.
The three-year-old was found on Wednesday afternoon beneath the family’s apartment in Pudong’s Gaoqian Town, Shanghai Daily reports. Neighbors were alerted by the child’s cries, and found him lying in a grassy area.
When the toddler was taken to the hospital, doctors found that he hadn’t been injured at all in the plunge. The neighbors believe that several cables below the fifth floor and the shrubbery below might’ve helped break his fall.
The tot was reportedly being taken care of by his grandmother at the time, and it’s believed that she went shopping and left the child at home alone.
This isn’t the first case of a child miraculously surviving after falling from an apartment window. In May last year, a man managed to catch a one-year-old infant with his hands after the baby fell from the second-floor window of his home in Guangzhou province. The infant had been left alone by his mother and was looking for her.
